Mastering digital: a toolkit for marketing books in Aotearoa

The final session in our six month long training for twenty book sector marketing professionals takes place this Tuesday 18 June.

The four sessions to date have provided a great opportunity to bring together a cohort of book marketing professionals representing publishers, festivals, bookshops and book sector organisations to discuss current marketing challenges and opportunities, to upskill, to share knowledge and to form marketing connections across organisations.

The course began last November with an in person all day session at the National Library. An online webinar later that month focussed on technical aspects of social media marketing.

This year an online session in February picked up where the cohort left on social media advertising. In April, a second in-person all day session at the National Library included focus on email marketing, website strategy principles and design, event marketing and AI and marketing with The Classroom’s Seth Zorn; marketing insights from Dawson Marama Feagai, Chief Executive at Toi Hourua and a case study from Hēmi Kelly on his experience growing Everyday Māori online.

A dinner at Bandung restaurant offered an additional chance for participants to connect and share their experiences.

The final session covers search engine optimisation and Google analytics.

Coming soon: if you’re keen to know more about the material covered on the course, keep an eye out for  a suite of online materials created by the Classroom and available to all Coalition for Books members on our website.
