Welcome to our newest members

We’re delighted to have welcomed two new members to The Coalition over the last months. Public Libraries of New Zealand and Kate Gordon-Smith author at Relish Books and owner of The Kiwi Kids’ Bookstore have joined our community and collaborative efforts to raise the visibility of books and writers from Aotearoa.

Public Libraries of New Zealand is the professional association for public library managers. It fosters a strong and influential network of public library managers by offering support services, resources and shared learning opportunities to its members. 

Key national initiatives led by Public Libraries of New Zealand include: the Public Libraries Strategic Framework, National Data Collection, and its Annual Forum, and it also provides year-round advocacy on behalf of its members.

Kate Gordon-Smith

Kate Gordon-Smith is a New Zealand author of children’s fiction published by Relish Books.

Kate enjoys writing mysteries and fantasy adventures for readers aged 7 to 12. She loves doing her best to create un-putdownable stories that offer her readers the chance to switch off from the real world and get lost in a great story.

She is a passionate supporter of New Zealand children’s and YA authors. In 2020 Kate set up independent, online bookstore The Kiwi Kids’ Bookstore She spoke with the The Sapling recently about her bookshop, her reading recommendations, and why as an indie author she was determined to set up a bookstore dedicated to children’s authors from Aotearoa.
