PRHNZ Māori and Pacific Publishing Scholarship 2025 recipient
In 2020 Penguin Random House New Zealand and Whitireia Publishing created a scholarship with the aim of reducing barriers to equitable representation and encouraging diversity and inclusivity in publishing in Aotearoa.
The annual scholarship offers funding for one Māori or Pacific student to study the Whitireia Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied). It also includes travel to the Penguin Random House office in Auckland for hands-on experience at the biggest publishing house in Aotearoa.
We are delighted to announce that the recipient of the 2025 Penguin Random House New Zealand Māori and Pacific Publishing Scholarship is Liam Robertson (Kāi Tahu). Liam is shortly graduating from Massey University Wellington with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and has just embarked on the Graduate Diploma. He is passionate about all aspects of writing and publishing and he is looking forward to contributing to NZ’s publishing landscape. Liam says “I am thrilled and honoured to be the recipient of this scholarship. It provides such excellent opportunities and will be a tremendous help in my publishing career.”
